Merrill Gardens

The facility and staff are very nice. We had a very enjoyable meal and toured the facility and apartments after. We found Truewood to be a comfortable atmosphere and the residents and staff are friendly.

My cousin who is 86, is getting along very well. She has made a lot of friends and seems happy. Sometimes I have been to lunch there and the food has been very good. Other times it is just OK. The desserts are always good.

Staff is great - energetic, patient, and courteous. Understanding of seniors' needs. They are great at remembering people and giving personal attention. My parents are in a one-bedroom. The bedroom and bath are sufficient. Living room /dining space is tight but workable. It is great to have a full kitchen. The accounting is confusing and food service is perennially unacceptably slow. Food quality is good, but service is poor.

After a 3-day guest stay at Merrill Gardens in Greenville SC, we were impressed with the apartments, common areas and amenities. The facility is nearly new and shows a lot of thought and care in its design and materials. The guest suite was bright and airy, with a full kitchen, washer-dryer, handicap accessible bathroom and attractive finishes. Amenities include a theatre, activity room, fitness room, salon, heated outdoor pool, firepit, small garden and library. It is within walking distance to downtown Greenville, a charming city with shops, restaurants and cultural events. There is a large fitness facility across the road with a gym, aquatics, etc. The staff and residents were friendly and welcoming. We ate in the dining room (all meals are included in the monthly fee) and visited with many residents there. The food was good, if somewhat monotonous (2 specials per day but the remainder of the menu stays the same). We are now wait listed for an apartment.

Facility is nicely appointed. Front desk staff are welcoming and friendly. Staff is responsive and supportive. It is safe. Every effort is made to make one feel at home. Laundry services are very reasonable. The only negative is that they don't have a transport van that is wheelchair accessible

Everyone at Truewood was very helpful. We were able to look at different sized rooms as well as tour the memory unit. The residents looked engaged and the lunch we saw seemed to please the residents. We have made arrangements for {Name Removed] to move in there as soon as she is discharged from the nursing/rehab facility. Thank you for your help in suggesting Truewood.

It’s not for my Mom. She needs assistance, and this facility is more independent. I really liked the way it looked and the people were very nice.

My Mom moved in March 30th everyone that works there have very kind and helpful, they make my mom feel welcome, they really do care about the residents. My mom loves the food and atmosphere. I want to give a shout out to [Names removed] they are amazing and helpful!

The representative was wonderful and the place nice. I felt it not a good fit for me though. I will keep looking!

Have decided to stay in my house. When it comes time to move, Truewood will be my number one choice.

The servers, specially [name removed] always go above and beyond to help the residents. Even for tasks that are not typically assigned to them. I have been living here for over a year and a half. I feel pretty good and happy about the food here.

My dad loves his room and the staff has been phenomenal he's not always exceptionally excited about the food but everything else has been fantastic. [name removed] [name removed] and [name removed] are great and easy to talk to and the kitchen staff always makes sure he is taken care of for alternates if he doesn't like the meal and [name removed] is great at the activities even if my dad doesn't always participate.

The staff is friendly and attentive. Everyone knows my mother-in-law's name.

Overall it has a very safe and reliable environment for times when we cannot stop by to see our Mom due to travels. Both us and her are comfortable knowing she is in a caring and secure environment.

[name removed] is kind, polite, accommodating and extremely knowledgeable. [name removed] is the chef. He is outstanding and came to meet us in-person. Friendly staff and residents. Overlooking the hills, location couldn't be more beautiful. Also, the open parking is plentiful.

The thing I like the most at Merrill Gardens (besides not having to cook or clean) is the atmosphere..it felt good the day my daughter and I visited and it still feels the same now that I’m living here.. everyone has a smile and a hello and seem to be happy…I’ve felt welcomed by staff and residents alike..only 2 complaints… my TV hasn’t worked for over a week now and I miss it! Have turned in a work order at the front desk a couple times.. the other thing is no storage in the bathroom..I’m using a storage bin..I have a cupboard to go under the sink that needs to be put together..I realize the maintenance man is very busy and there’s only one of him, so I’m trying to be patient… the good far outweighs the not so good and I’m feeling happy and content so far!!!

This was such an active community that seemed to be a great experience for many. Everyone was so friendly and outgoing. There were great activities planned for the holiday. Very well kept and supportive of independent life.

Merrill Gardens is really nice and more affordable than most assistant living facilities. They have lots to do for those living there.

Staff seem kind and attentive. Willing to lend a hand or give an encouraging word. Upbeat. Very happy overall.

Mom loves it here. When Ive had issues, the staff listens and makes sure things are corrected. We are very happy with our choice. A smallish community where it is easy for everyone to fit in. A lovely setting to walk your loved one around the premises. Or take them out in a wheelchair. Staff listens and responds to issues of concern. A nice room to make it feel like home.
