Merrill Gardens

We have had a positive experience. Overall the community is very nice. The staff have been very, very nice and kind. The communication has been good with the staff if we have questions or concerns. The residents are served three meals a day and have anytime dining available.

The facility is very beautiful and brand new, well laid out and had easy access. The staff have all been extremely friendly. For one person the apartment size is perfect. They offer a nice variety of activities and she loves the food. The value for the money is great, you get exactly what you pay for. I would absolutely recommend Merrill Gardens at Columbia to others

We chose Merrill Gardens at Solivita Marketplace because the value for the money was great and also the location was close to me so I could go visit dad often. The apartments are a really good size. For us it has been great and I give them 5's all the way around. I would recommend them to others looking.

We have had a couple of med errors. My loved one is very active, and they wanted to take their meds. The staff wouldn't allow my loved one to have their meds to take when my loved one was out with friends. This individual staff member ended up throwing my loved one's meds away and didn't give them to my loved one at all. The meds are thrown away if the meds are not given to the residents within a two hour window, one hour before and one hour after. According to the staff member this is the policy due to a state regulation, I don't find this appropriate. This has all taken place in the assisted living. My loved one has moved to a different care type within the community now, and is enjoying their time now. They have lots of activities for the residents to participate in. They have a theater, a pool, and a gym for the residents to use. If your loved one needs change the community is able to care for them in the same room.

Our family lives out of state and the staff were very helpful in getting the paperwork in order and getting things figured out so that he could move in. They were very forthcoming about any charges and there were never any surprises which was nice. I would definitely recommend Merrill Gardens to other families.

Merrill Gardens was going to be our second choice if the facility we went with did not work out. [name removed] who helped us out was so helpful and went out of her way to answer any questions. She was also always available if we needed her. The facility itself was very nice and the location was close to my loved ones friends too. I like the fact that my loved one would be able to transition from assisted living over to memory care because that is a possibility in the future that we may need.

The gal that was showing us around for the tour was really friendly and helpful with any questions that we had. The facility itself felt a lot more like a nursing home rather than assisted living which is the reason we decided against them.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The staff are very friendly. They are prompt in answering or addressing our questions or concerns about my loved ones. The food could use a little more variety for the residents to choose from. There is a menu for the residents to order off of. The independent living side will allow for the family to bring in assistance for our loved ones. The independent living side apartments have large closets, with a full kitchen, and they have a washer and dryer set for the residents to use. The only negative is the microwave is above the stove. The apartment has a screened in porch as a cool option. The apartment, housekeeping, changing of linens, all the meals, transportation, DirectTV, and internet, and utilities are included in the monthly fee.

My experience has been very pleasant. The people here are very warm and welcoming. When I meet other residents in the hallway or elevator, they often introduce themselves and ask how long I've been here. Everybody is just so friendly. It's like we really are a community and all in this together. The staff is really responsive. I've had a good experience with our one maintenance man. He has immediately responded to requests. Dealing with deliveries of furniture and that kind of thing has gone smoothly. I like the menu and options they have. The dining room atmosphere is nice, and everybody is really attentive. Activities are good and getting better. There's something going on every day. There is no night staff and no security at night, so for people who are tending toward dementia, it might not be an ideal solution. But I've had a very good experience here.

The Ackerly is by far the best facility that we looked at out of about 5-6 different places. The facility is new and very clean. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. There are several levels of care available there. Also, the activities and outings they have to get seniors involved have been amazing.

The Pines of Newmarket is a very nice facility

Merrill Gardens at Gilroy was nice, but it was extremely upper crest. They had polished marble floors. That was not at all the type of environment for my dad to feel comfortable. It all just depends on what it is you prefer and are looking for.

I would rate Merrill Gardens at Columbia way above a 5 if I could. I visited on New years Eve and it It seemed like an awesome place to live. I got to try the food and it was fantastic and you get a menu to choose from and the chef is great. The apartment sizes were very nice. The manager is sweet compassionate, and very intelligent. I have looked at other places and Merrill Gardens had the best people, staff, and value. It is an A+ facility and I am hoping to move in here soon.

We are really enjoying the cleanliness of the community and the meals and dining service. We also love the activities they have. They go out on day trips, just this last one was to a museum. They also have weekly shopping outings.

Overall I have been very pleased with my experience at Merrill Gardens at Barkley Place. The location is great for me as it is very close to family and they also have a lot of amenities offered as well that I enjoy. It is a great place that has been the perfect fit for me and I would highly recommend them.

It's a wonderful place. We told my loved one it was like staying at a Hyatt. It was well run. She loved it here. Housekeeping comes daily, washers and dryers in their rooms or the laundry service would do it for a fee. They provided a lot of activities such as scavenger hunts, book club, happy hour, etc. Meals had a great variety, that was real food, she loved it. Only issue was waiting on food to be delivered and it wouldn't be as warm then. The staff was overall very friendly and nice.

This is the best place I have seen so far for my loved ones, and they choose this community. There are some many good things about Merrill Gardens. There is a movie theater, garden club, women's and men's club, and there is music playing in the hallway. The community feels calm and everyone is very nice here. The staff are great to work with. There are times I have had to check on my loved ones and couldn't get ahold of them, and the front desk was friendly and efficient to get ahold of my loved ones for me to call me back. My loved ones really enjoy the food. There are lots of different options for the residents and this makes it interesting. The food is delicious tasting. There is a standard menu for the residents to order off of if they don't like what is being served. The food is restaurant quality. There are lots of activities for the residents to choose from if they want to get involved with it. There is a washer and dryer in my loved one's apartment. There is an outdoor space off each apartment big enough for table and chairs, and a full kitchen in the apartment. There is housekeeping, on staff nurse, the room, indoor postal area, medication management, meals, activities, and transportation that is included in the monthly fee.

The community is nicely laid out. The prices are all ala carte and this would have been out of our price range. They do allow pets for a monthly.

there has been different staff changes and transitions during our loved ones stay but the executive director is fantastic, all the care givers are fantastic. It is a very nice community that is kept very clean.

Our loved one will soon be moving in and everything we have experience with the community so far was been great, we are so happy with them. She loves her apartment and is very happy with it. She loves the list of activities they have to offer and likes the fact they get to go out on different outings.
