Hi, I moved to AvidorEdina two weeks ago. While still in the honeymoon time I have yet to find fault with the place. The design of the building and apt is very good. Bright, cheerful and full of light. The staff is helpful, available and friendly. I have everything I need and more. The landscape is lovely and they have out door benches everywhere. All in all a good looking place and I am so happy living there.

We have a group that my daughter thinks it is similar to a sorority. We go to each other's houses and enjoy spending time together. There is an opportunity to rent a storage unit at this community. There is a handy man on the campus on the community. I had an issue one day with my air conditioner, and the maintenance team were at my door within 30 minutes. There are lots of activities that include exercise, movie night, bocce ball, wine down Wednesday, and swimming. They have a continental breakfast each morning. You have the option to sit in the dining room and eat and they even have hot coffee. Once things get back in full sing, they have an event each month to gather the community together. Sometimes they even include the public.

I have lived in apartments for most of my 50 years in D.C area. Sommerset is by far the best apartment housing I have experienced. The office staff and maintenance staff either anticipate your needs or are very quick to resolve my issues or concerns. The staff of the on-site restaurant are more efficient than anyone could imagine. The building and grounds are always wellmaintained. It is "my home", not "my apt".

I love Sommerset. I moved in July 2013. The management takes very good care of us.

Great activities, but now that we have the Coronavirus pandemic it is not recommended to socialize, as we did so happily in the past. I know that things will return to great activites when the virus is over.

I am 92 years old... Lived in a beautiful one bedroom delux apartment... but as time passed and the weight of century slowed me down, the walls started closing in on me and I decided that I needed more space... I prayed about it, asked the Lord for guidance, then I started my search. I was given 5 places to view and the only one that offered me what I wanted was Sommerset... It offered me exactly what I wanted. Tha place is beautiful and the service rendered is outstanding. This place gives me something to brag about.

[date removed] was my 4th anniversary at Sommerset. This independent living residence is truly independent, but with the feel like home. The staff, from managing office workers to maintenance folk, are all very nice people. There is no hostility among the entire staff. Services are done on time and orderly. Sommerset prides itself as a residence, but truly feels like home. I have referred Smmerset to several acquaintances When it's time for them to move, I hope they choose Sommerset.

I have lived here four years and have been very pleased with the accommodations, staff and amenities. The staff has always responded to any request for assistance quickly and efficiently.

We have a lot of entertainment & activities, also ballroom dancing. We have birthday parties & parties for special holidays. We have a welcoming Committee that meets with the new people.

Staff is kind & accomodating, food is tasty and interesting. Community is clean & well kept.

My mom has lived at this retirment home for 6 years and enjoys it everyday. She likes the balcony and atrium section with outdoor plants that no one wants in their rooms. She enjoys the residents' free bus service, which takes them shopping, dining out, entertainment, doctor appointments, etc. Beauty shop is available two days a week, library outreach once a week, church group gatherings once a week from outside church communities. Her daily jigsaw puzzles in the atrium is most enjoyable and relaxing.

I have lived at Sommerset for two years. I have been very pleased with everything they have to offer. They have a bus service that will take you to doctor appointments, grocery shopping, day trips and mall shopping. The employees in the office are always very helpful if you need anything. We have live entertainment and various events during the year which is also taken care of by the employees in the office. I am also pleased with the housekeeping service. They do a great job.

Building setting is very attractive including grounds which are well-kept. Management is attentive and available to residents, especially under COVID-19 conditions. Apartments are well appointed, comfortable quiet and well maintained. Meeting rooms and game rooms are very usable and accessible. Dining room as for are pleasant and good services meet requirements and include a bus service that includes shopping, doctor appointments, and events. Excellent value.

I enjoy living at Sommerset. I love my apartment and it's very homey here. The food is good, the bus service is great and the staff and other employees are very congenial. We have entertainment weekly, socials, group lunches out, doctor visits, grocery shopping, and field trips to wonderful sites.

There probably isn't enough room to say how I feel. I came to this center after having broken my back and 8 mos. of getting better and rehab. I had all of my sons come and check how it was clean, happy, and open. He, my son [name removed], came to check before I was going to move in. Everyone I met from the beginning was kind, responsive, and helpful. But now, this team [names removed] have made it truly like family - even with the quarantine. They are taking all these moves to be sure everyone stays healthy.

[name removed] the maintenance man is so helpful. The sales girls are so helpful. The lady in charge promises, and some people complain about not getting their items. There was an issue with my electric bill, and they are trying to work on the bill for me to get it fixed. This is the only complaint in 13 months. The lady who does the recreation is very timid, but she comes up with some great ideas. I've not met anyone who is nasty. I love the people, I have met people from Aruba, California, and even New York and Paris and Indonsia. I joined two book clubs, prior to COVID there was a happy hour on Tuesdays. They even have a swimming pool for some other activities. There is a gym on-site as well, and it was a plus for me. Once a week we have line dancing and crafts. They even play movies and they have spaced the chairs apart for the community to be able to watch movies. There is a drama group you can join as well. I have a balcony that looks over the pool and recreation area. I have even decorated my balcony and it is beautiful here. I only have to walk about a half block to the grocery store, and there are restaurants, shopping centers, and shipping centers near me. It is an awesome place and it is brand new and super clean.

Mom just moved in yesterday, place is beautiful. Have some activities, no assisted living at the previous facility. Wanted to find a place with assisted living and memory care. This place has a pool, can grow fresh vegetables, has a putting green. Looks like a resort!!

What Sommerset offers is an established independent retirement community. Its apartment style monthly rentals which include HVAC, breakfast, lunch and dinner meals, weekly housecleaning, complimentary on-site washer/driers, transportation services, a small exercise area, weekly scheduled entertainment and activities in a closed secure environment at what we considered a very good price and they allow pets. Sommerset is not an assisted living facility and they do not provide any medical care, however, Sterling Fire and Rescue Department is less than a 1/2 mile away. We moved our Mom to Sommerset more than 2 year ago, while her memory and mobility was still fairly good for 85 because she still wanted her independence. It was a great fit for all since, we live within 1 mile from Sommerset. Shopping is conveniently located so we can shop for her, run earns and take her to doctor appointments. Mom is now 88 years old with increased memory loss, but she loves and know her home, her cat, and her part-time independently hired aides. She is happy, healthy and safe. From our perspective when you visit the “Community of Sommerset” you will sense the warmth of being home, fellowship and a sense of belonging from the people who call Sommerset their home, its staff and management.
