I toured this facility. It smelled like urine, even the room that they showed us did. The shared bathroom also smelled like urine. No one had masks on. I would not recommend it.

Not the Best

Carefully think about placing a loved one in Northwood assisted living. One review captured the situation perfectly. The price may be right (reasonable) but you get what you pay for - underpaid staff & minimal staff on duty at any time. Request information regarding how long staff have worked at this facility. Few have "staying power" as it seems to be a revolving door. Staff members are not skilled caretakers with any type of required educational training. They're aides who are expected to do a range of activities- including meal preparation & cleanup, laundry & housekeeping for residents and the "house". Management allows staff to bring their children or pets to work in order to keep houses staffed. If staff calls in sick, there's no substitute. The remaining person works alone or other staff members work double shifts. I doubt the glowing reviews come from persons who were visiting their loved ones daily. I blame management for their inability to attract/maintain topnotch staff.

This facility is very, very understaffed. On a good day there are 2 people working a 12 hr shift 7am-7pm.. 2 people to 13 residents. They literally have to do everything! Cooking, cleaning, laundry and taking care of 13 dementia residents. When one person called off all this falls on one worker. Pretty impossible right? Night shift has one worker from 7pm-7am. This is not a medical facility. This is a group home for memory care residents. These are not nurses, or social workers or even STNA's. These are reg people with minimal training and minimal pay. But this is the only facility of its kind in the area. The only other choice for dementia residents is a "lockdown" ward in a nursing home! So they kinda gotcha between a rock and a hard place. A lesser of two evils! Not enough choices for dementia care unfortunately.

Disappointing

I transferred my parent to a different facility after they were here for a few months. This community was unsatisfactory in every way: very few activities, mostly frozen food cooking, and lack of individualized attention.

Our family had an in person tour and it was a terrible experience - right away we noticed there was an smell and it reminded us of a nursing home. The room the tour guide showed us wasn't even finished, there was carpet all pulled up and cabinet doors taken off. It was just not a good first impression
