Avalon House on Gerard Court

5 for all categories--there is nothing at all I would change. My wife is even getting settled in, and complementing the care provided by staff, which is completely different from the situation at her prior residence ([Names removed]).

My father spent a couple years at the house here with [name removed] and the Avalon team. He had Alzheimer’s and had become difficult to care for around the clock at home. The care he received at Avalon was unlike anything he could have received elsewhere. The small group atmosphere also worked for him to allow him to feel more at home along with [name removed] care, cooking, and oversight. I will always hold a special place in my heart for Avalon.

My dad has been in memory care here for the past 3 years and they are fantastic. We are so lucky to have found this place. They have tons of experience with helping families manage the care of their clients while treating them with dignity and kindness.

Our family has been so grateful for the care my mother-in-law has received here. The staff are consistently pleasant, respectful, and attentive, and they’re always on top of her needs and quick to respond whenever we reach out. This is a wonderful place that genuinely cares, and we are highly satisfied [name removed], the Director, is welcoming, thoughtful, patient, and understanding, and she always makes us feel at ease and truly cared for. We couldn’t be more thankful to have found a place where kindness is simply how things are done here.

I came in town to visit my mom [name removed] and my family and I enjoyed the visit. The workers made sure my mom stayed up for our surprise visit and the place was clean. The staff and other residents were nice to my kids as far as giving them drinks and snacks while we visit.

My father has always been a very difficult person, which did not improve with age. A stubborn Dutchman who knows better. Over the years it had been very challenging to get him in home care and eventually he ended up at Avelon where he found [name removed]. Her genuine caring nature, relaxed and friendly approach to residents and guests is exactly what his temperament needed! Getting him to do what is best for him would seem like an easy ask, it’s not! What he needed first was to be validated as an individual. To be respected as a person. (As does everyone, BTW) [name removed] got him to recognize that she heard him and cared about him and he learned how to trust her and do what she told him! Amazing to witness! Something so seemingly simple, yet it escapes too many. [name removed] is the most wonderful person and caregiver, we are lucky!

My wife has been a resident of Avalon House on Gelston Circle for five years. In that period of time she has received very good care on a consistent basis. She is always dressed, clean, and neat each time I visit. The facility is kept clean and neat as well. The care plan is well executed and the facility nurse closely monitors her physical condition and medical needs. The staff is excellent. [name removed] is always jovial as she greets me at the door and briefs me on my wife's condition. She enjoys her work. [name removed] is very professional in all her interactions and keeps me informed of any supplies I may need to provide. My family is grateful for the good care she receives at Avalon.

My mother in law was a patient at Avalon for 7 yrs. The staff was wonderful and gave the best care to her. It was so nice to know that she was in a caring and loving environment,where we did not have to worry. They were extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of her care. I cannot praise them enough! [name removed] gives top notch care to all of her patients! We were extremely grateful and pleased!!

My family has had a wonderful experience with Avalon and the care they provide for my mom. From the moment she moved in, the staff made her feel comfortable and safe. One of the things I appreciate most about Avalon is that it is a smaller home. Because of its size, the staff truly get to know each resident on a personal level rather than treating them as just another patient. That personal connection has made a difference in my mom’s quality of life and gives our family great peace of mind. The caregivers are attentive, compassionate, and invested in the well-being of the residents. [Name Removed], in particular, have been great. [Name Removed] goes above and beyond to make sure my mom stays active and engaged. She regularly takes her on walks, which has been wonderful not only for her physical health but also for her mental and emotional well-being. It means so much to know that someone is taking the time to encourage her independence.

Avalon has been fantastic for my mother-in-law. She really improved upon moving here. Much better diet and one-on-one hands-on care. [Names Removed] are fantastic. I feel like they are part of the family. We have a real peace of mind with our mother-in-law being here. Would highly recommend. Thank you!!

I am so grateful that my mom lives at Avalon Residence on Oakview Drive. Knowing she is safe, cared for, and surrounded by kind people gives me tremendous peace of mind. When my husband came to the Woodacre location of Avalon House, it was projected that he would only live a few more weeks. Now over a year later, with meticulous care and feeding, he has continued to stay with us. He requires specially prepared food, which is artfully and nutritiously prepared each meal. Unable to take care of himself, he has received top quality care by members of the team at that location.

My mother has been in Avalon for 2 1/2 years. She has been provided with amazing care. Her care givers provide healthy, home cooked meals and see to her personal needs in a clean and loving environment. It has been the perfect place for my mother at this stage of her life.

Our brother has been a resident at Oakview for 2 years. He has been very well cared for by kind, compassionate and very dedicated staff. He is well fed, groomed and his room is always clean. We highly recommend Avalon Oakview. The team there is wonderful and excellent communicators when the rare medical incident occurs.

My mother has been a resident at Avalon Homes for about a year. Finding a memory care community is not an easy experience, but the staff ([name removed]and [name removed]) are truly amazing. My mom is safe, respected, and treated with compassion. On the business side of the house, [name removed] goes above and beyond to help navigate various challenges. The caregivers take the time to get to know each resident as an individual and consistently demonstrate patience, kindness, and professionalism. They communicate well us and are always willing to help. We especially appreciate the warm, home-like environment. The facility is clean, comfortable, and welcoming, and the staff works hard to create meaningful activities and opportunities for engagement that help residents maintain their quality of life.

My 99-year-old has been with Avalon for over 2 years and has been very well served there. As a memory care resident, mom receives assistance with every facet of hygiene, dressing, and meal services. Avalon strictly adheres with State of Virginia regulations. They are very disciplined on dispensing medication. Highly recommend it, especially for value.
