The staff is amazing!! The caregivers and the residents are like family. Meals are homemade and I love that the residents can request meals. Hey we all have cravings. Gates is very clean with spacious rooms....

The first 7 months the staff was not good. With the former staff, Mom left the facility and attempted to walk home. She had complained about the attitudes of the staff and the frozen foods and said that this was a place to come to die. After approximately 7 months, the new staff [Removed names] began to cook homemade dinners. These 4 girls are very happy, caring, clean, and great conversationalists. Administration should do whatever is necessary to keep these girls on staff. These ladies changed the atmosphere of the facility and the whole outlook of all of the women in the facility. Mom began to feel that this was her home and she decided to sell her house because that was no longer home to her. When Mom passed away the staff put makeup on the women and got them dressed up, coordinated their transportation to Mom's funeral with their respective families and they all came in together. What a beautiful sight for us to see! We knew that they cared about Mom! No housekeeper on staff. We cleaned Mom's room. Snowplow in the circular driveway. A big box truck took up a guest parking spot. Driveway had lots of water and mud. Insufficient parking due to snowplow, box truck and condition of circular driveway. Rear Deck was falling apart. They told us that they had planned to replace it when we signed her up at the home. Rear lawn would get a foot tall and then when mowed, clumps were left behind. They were friendly, but not helpful. Mom emptied her commode waste on her own. The staff never checked it. They say that they cannot make a resident take a shower or take a their meds. They lack the ability to reason with a resident. Lack of patient care training was evident. Staff did not regularly communicate with Hospice, they called family instead. Most staff that cared for residents did not have previous patient care They said that they could not perform bedsore checks. Once she went on hospice the last 2 months, then hospice checked and treated bed sores. One staff member would give Mom cream but did not apply it. They worked with us on price, else we could not afford to keep her there. It was less expensive than other homes. Broken dish drainer. We asked for a new one for a year so that the dishes would completely dry. No response from administrative staff. Several occurrences of no water in the facility and no alternative drinking water, no showers could be taken. Water was out for 5 days at a time on multiple occurrences. Had requested potable water bottles and they were never delivered. We had to buy our own bottled water because they could not drink from the tap. High number of staff turnover which led to poor knowledge of the residents. Only meds were electronically recorded, not the patient condition. No shift change reviews were conducted. No cook on staff. Packaged, frozen food options -Some fresh fruits, Never homemade hot meals. Mainly sandwiches, soup or salad . After approximately 7 months the new staff [removed names] began to cook homemade dinners. They had 2 activity days per week (music man and arts and crafts). Staff nurse did exercises with them once per week.

I went to visit an individual that I helped take care of prior to them becoming a patient at this facility. They rooms and facility are dirty and in need of maintenance. The dressers and furniture provided needs to be donated to a homeless shelter. Especially for the amount of money a person is spending to stay there, things should be a little nicer. The place smells like pee and is unkept. These are just a few of the discussing things I saw. The staff, always seemed nice to your face, but they really didn't care.

If I could give them negative stars i would. My father was there for a short period of time. Its nasty living conditions. They are beyond short staffed! My father was burned on his face and neck. They didnt NOT take him to get medical attention, they did not contact me (his legal guardian). I found out a few days later when I went to pick my father up to move him out of there. I had to take him to the ER where he stayed a few days because they didnt get him the medical attention he needed for his burns!
