Our friend was just in the assisted care. We feel that things might have been different if she was in the special care unit for dementia. In assisted care they expect them to take care of themselves basically but by then she was really beyond that point. They only cleaned her room once a week and when food was spilled on the floor they didn't clean it up. I know that really wasn't their job because she wasn't in special care but we felt that they should have kept it cleaner. cypress was actually financially really good for us but it was just at the point where she needed more care. She shouldn't have been there as long as she was. The special care unit was too pricey for us so we moved her.

Too old for me.

Toured home. Clean but very old bldg. Didn't really seem to have a lot of activities.

Take tours and try to find a facility that best matches the budget and the personality of the family member. Culture, community, and engagement with others matter more in the long run than esthetics

They were kind and caring. But I found my father at times not wearing shoes, urine soaked or his bed had not been made. They lacked the specific attention. I understand they are caring for a lot of people but for the price you expect a lot more attention.

The facility is very nice and bright, but they do not supervise the nursing staff well. Many of the nursing staff sit in the med room looking at their phones for most of the time I was visiting, and I visited every day. There are couple of very caring nurses. The contract calls for the room to be cleaned once a week and the bed sheet changed. That did not happen. They only have one person to clean the entire facility public areas and the 40 plus rooms. On signing the contract I was told my wife would need level 2 care. I don’t believe she need level 2 care nor did she receive it. I think this is a way for them to increase their price. Other places I toured listed the number of hours for each level of care, I don’t believe Holland Farms does that.

The room was clean. Food was great. Staff was poor - Paid for help for additional help needed. $[fee removed] or stage 4 help over what room charge. Only got help for wheelchair transport to meals and shower and when help button passed for bathroom help it can take up to 30 minutes. Then they will set on couch and watch him walk. What if he did lose balance!!! Never was a gated belt put on. Was given daily meds. He had cornea transplant in both eyes and needed eye drops daily for anti rejection. I asked Daily why he was not getting them. Answer was " I'LL CHECK. " FINALLY I ASKED for a meeting. Was told that computer said drops NOT AVAILABLE. It was in the Refrigerator and was at Astoria the day of admitted but had never been put on drug cart for use. I decided that was it! Brought home home.

Long wait times for help, rude/ unhelpful staff. Lack of staff, lack of enriching activities.

Staff seems good. Although there's a few that don't seem to do much. And some that do quite a bit. They seem to have enough staff if everybody was hustling, but a few of them don't ever hustle. So I would give their staff 3 also. Management I would give a 4 to. [name removed]has addressed my concerns when I've raised them and [name removed]the head of the memory care unit has also addressed a few issues. The nurse manager was fired a few weeks after [name removed] moved in because she never put in an order for her medication. They used up the medication I took in when she moved in and then she ran out of a couple meds and the nurse never contacted the doctor or the pharmacy the cleanliness of the units are good. The size of the unit is nice.

They just have too many staffing changes. New people that are not qualified and do not like their job. There are a several high quality caring staff but the lesser bring the community down as a whole.

I was so excited when I learned my father was going to be placed here. Now I am crying as I write this. Although we are paying for services I haven’t seen one person check on him. It’s been three hours. The place is a ghost town after 5pm. When I went to ask for help, the care giver was on her cell phone and didn’t acknowledge me. She then stated she’s the only one on the floor and it’s not even her floor. It breaks my heart to think that if my father falls (and he has) that he’s on the floor until someone finds him. Pretty much a staff member confirmed that’s the case. Where is the dignity in that? Where is the service for the money we’re paying? Where’s the care? I thought this place would be different, but I see that it’s not. At least not for the Memory Care Floor.

Before you decide to move here ask for additional cost. You can quickly go from the base price to twice or even more. Seems the "assisted" part will cost you more! They refuse to tell you what they are charging you for when they double or even more each month. To be able to live here and to keep the base price you to have no help of any kind. And the will bill you monthly for giving you your required prescriptions. [amount removed]a month even if it one or two prescriptions, and even it over the counter! That is not counting the cost of your drugs they obtain from a local company that supplies your presciptions. Also, if you are ill, or having loose bowels, etc., you have to go down to the dining room or be charged [fee removed] for each meal they bring to your room. In other words you can be on your " death bed" and you are suppose to Get out of you get and go down to the dining room! All in all they will find ways with excuses to increase your bill. Ask them to itemize their charges. Good luck!

We did not like this community. We were told that between 6-8 am the front desk is completely unmanned and unsecured but we did not like this and the thought of the door being open.

I lived there when it was Sagebrook. They changed hands and raised my rent from $900 a month to $1,500 a month which necessitated my moving. To top it off they told me to go ahead and pay the full last month's rent even though I only owed half of it and then would never refund the prorated amount as promised. To this day I still have not received my refund which amounts to approximately $200. I cannot afford that kind of loss.

I placed my husband here at Country House in Elkhorn on Jan 10, 2022. Its very new and well kept and the staff was very kind. But the cares that were promised did not happen from the beginning. He has edema in his legs , therefore leg wraps needed to be put on every day and edema pumps were to be on his legs for an hour a day. This did not happen for at least two weeks. He was to be cued to go to the restroom and I never saw that occur (and I was there most days for long periods of time.) nor did any of his visitors witness this. Joe did like it okay , always wanted to go home, but I think that was a normal reaction. The most compelling reason for our decision to find another facility was the significant increase in cost over a one month period. So we gave notice on Feb 11, 2022 and moved him as soon as I could research and visit other facilities and make a decision. And also I reached out to AGEMARK, the corporation that owns CH , never a call back. That’s inexcusable!!!

This would be a good option for those on a tight budget.

When we interviewed The Landing, it was told to us that there would be meals in the dining room, activities in 3 different rooms, parties, happy hour, bingo, etc. and none of that happened. They bring 2 meals a day to the room and have cancelled all activities due to covid, so there is no activities at all. The sliding door has needed to be fixed for a while and we called about it and it has still not been fixed. I imagine before covid it was better, but overall, it has not been a good experience especially for what we are having to pay.

Staff was pleasant and outgoing. Community is across the street from a park, which is nice. But, no crosswalk or sidewalk to get there safely. Property had no sidewalk only unlevel asphalt in parking lot. Community was dim and dreary. Pictures on website were quite misleading. Definitely not what I toured. Cost also misleading, significantly higher than advertised. Amnetities were few. Meals were extra. Dining room consisted of 'card tables' and worn chairs. Not appealing for meals at a cost. Rooms were clean, small, quite outdated. Small refrigerator and small microwave built in wall. Another apartment had small full kitchen. Beautiful courtyard, with tall redwood trees and flowers. Common areas were small and dreary. Furniture in common areas were worn. Activity room had some light. Observed only three active smiling residents, the others I saw seemed sad or bored. Community has been transitioning so it's a process towards improvements. Community doesn't offer enough for cost. Not for my mother. I wish the community great success.

It was a nice enough place, but the person giving me tour made it perfectly clear that I was not on their choice list, made even more clear with their followup email saying they could not work with me in breaking out the huge unexpected sign in costs into reasonable payments.

This is not an assisted facility, just apartment for seniors. there is no care per se' Hoerver paramedics live on site for emergencies. The facility is under renovation, but still not what we're looking for. Rooms are extremely small, not enough activities, but they're working on that. Rent is very low, but meals cost extra.
