Aegis

We are happy. Working with people and staff changes there were a few hiccups but staff very helpful in working out the bumps.

My loved one is a resident at Aegis of Lake Union. Most important is to clearly understand level of staffing. Is there adequate coverage during day and night? It seems like they are not always fully staffed. The staff that they do have is excellent. A second issue that drives me crazy is how the laundry works. Every day there are strange clothes in my loved one's closet and I have no idea where many of his clothes are. Once, I saw a resident wearing my vest (not my loved one's) from my work. The laundry is a small issue. but it drives me crazy. I haven't seen the new grey towels that I provided since July. Food prep is also important- we never ate fried or junk food at home. There seems to be more reliance on this type of food now than there was in the beginning. They don't seem to have as many salads. Overall, I am happy and grateful to the personal care and attention that the staff have provided to my loved one and his care.

It's a nice community, and we picked it because of the availability and it was clean. I would recommend to others.

Our family had an in person tour with Aegis on Madison and overall we really liked the tour experience and community, however our loved one chose a different community instead. She had like the food and particularly the location - it is not as much in the city.

When it comes to the activities the music is awesome, however our loved one is not currently participating in many of the other activities for personal reasons. I wish she would because they look great. We would definitely recommend Aegis of Lake Union to other families looking for a place for their loved ones.

On the positive side: All of the staff that is there is very dedicated and good at what they do. They treated my dad outstandingly and he loves all of the attention that he has gotten from them. Management has been easy to work with and straight forward. On the negative side: The food is not good at all. There are some time periods where they seem to be understaffed - particularly the weekends and evening hours. I know that it is a really hard job and the people they hire are great, there just aren't enough of them. It does kind of have "Disney land" décor which we do not like. It is also very brightly lit and gives me a headache.

Overall we have been very happy with Aegis Lodge community, and the staff members are all very nice. During the holiday season they had some holiday events that everyone was invited to and we really liked that. Coming from independent living to assisted living we are learning the ropes and asking a lot of questions and we appreciate how responsive they are when we send emails and they are more then willing to work with us on certain situations. We have had a little trouble with communication but they have sent out a newsletter letting all of the families know they are working on it.

It's a beautiful facility. Some of the workers are not too friendly. The dining room food is good for the residents. They have activites such as exercise, golfing and a Japenese singing class. It's very expensive, and the services could be better.

Overall Aegis of Redmond is a nice facility. It is pretty expensive. They seem to lose a lot of personal clothing items. The visitor parking is limited.

We had a brief experience at Aegis of Ventura, but I had a very favorable impression. it was a nice facility, and the staff were very friendly.

I liked Aegis of Pleasant Hill a lot. The people there were super. We almost chose them. But they were so insistent that my family member didn't need any type of memory care, and we really felt she needed that extra help.

They're very proactive in terms of communication. They've done an excellent job of following up and trying to identify the best way to interact with my mom. They try to establish what role the family members are going to have and what type of relationship the family wants to have with the facility. So if you want to be really informed, they're happy to provide that. Or if you only want them to call when there's an emergency or something that needs your attention, they're willing to work with that boundary. One challenge we've experienced is when things got a bit tense, they dropped the ball on communication and were more terse in their communication until we got things resolved. And then they were right back to their usual style of communication. From a food standpoint, they're not going to chase the residents down to make sure that they eat. And the food they have is pretty monotonous. When they're not serving standard meals, they have just plain Jane sandwiches and juice. And that's a big complaint from my mom, that she doesn't like the food. However, the food on the first floor and upper floors for assisted and independent living appears to be better than where she is in memory care. And overall, I think it's an excellent place for my mom.

I would recommend the community to others for their loved ones. This is a good place overall. The staff are very nice to work with. The call response times from the time the resident's clicks the call button could be improved upon. The food is enjoyed by my loved one.

The caregivers seemed caring and attentive. My loved one really appreciates the caregivers. The one caution is that if you want to get a phone line put in for your loved one it could be difficult. It seems like this is an highly functional community.

This community was a strong second. This community was very beautiful and clean. This community is a combination of assisted living and memory care. I was not impressed with the memory care unit but the rest of the facility was great.

We liked this facility for our loved one it was just too far away from our family.

Nobody's perfect, but we're happy with them. They seem attentive to our loved one. I do feel like you need to be on top of things. When I'm not visiting as often, I feel like I start noticing things that need to be addressed. But I think that's the case with any care place. Wherever you choose, it's important for the families to be involved. When we've had concerns, they generally do a good job of addressing them. I think they could do a little better with activities. But overall, my loved one seems quite happy there, and she adjusted well within a couple of weeks or so.

We chose Aegis of Kirkland because it was what my dad wanted. The rooms at the facility were small, private rooms. I think the food could use improvement, they could have more variety and what they advertised was not accurate. We were here during covid, but I would tell others to make sure to tour and try the food before moving your loved one in here.

We have an in person tour and our experience was good, but the community was not as new and bright as what we were hoping. We thought the price was also a little higher and at the time there were no men there.
